When does Royalton Antigua open -  It is now open and opened on 01st May 2019 

 

Antigua is the perfect example of a Caribbean island. Surrounded by coral reefs, this gem of an island sits like a diamond set in crystal stones. A vibrant blue sea kisses white sandy beaches. Lazy blue lagoons languish lovingly along its tropical coastline.  

 

Fashioned by thousands of years of thundering Atlantic rollers on the east side, and the gentle lapping of the Caribbean on the west, the natural beauty of Antigua is breathtaking. If you wanted to, you could visit a different beach every day of the year. But don’t expect the friendly Antiguans to divulge the location of their favourite beach. Find a beach for yourself!

 

But if you spent your holiday on one beach, Deep Bay Beach would delight you. This is the new site of the Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa.

 

Royalton Antigua sits on Deep Bay under the vigilant gaze of Fort Barrington.  This old fort, sits in its fading splendour, looking down from Goat Hill since they built it in 1776. It stands as a sentinel on the hill to defend the entrance to St John's Harbour. But if you undertake the short steep climb, it will reward you with stunning views of Deep Bay, St Johns Harbour, and the breathtaking expanse of the Caribbean.

Royalton Antigua Essential Information

 

The Royalton Antigua Chairmans Overwater Bungalows are still being constructed. They are located away from the rooms and main facilities so noise is minimal. However, you may be aware of construction workers and vehicles on resort and the works are visible from parts of the beach. Till 31 July 2019

 

As this is a newly constructed property, the landscaping is still maturing and the casino is not yet open. We will add any updates as we get them.

Antigua and Barbuda

 

Antigua and Barbuda, to give this nation its proper name, has a unique bird population. Among others are, the Lesser Antillean flycatcher, the Barbuda Warbler, and the hummingbird.

 

Then there’s the Purple-throated Carib, the Caribbean coot, and the endangered West Indian Whistling Duck, magnificent frigate bird.

 

Barbuda has the largest Frigate breeding and nesting colony in the world.  Known locally as "Weather Birds", they circle the island when a storm is approaching.

Nelson’s Dockyard National Park: Nelson’s Dockyard is the largest of Antigua’s National Parks and is still used today as a working dockyard for numerous yachts and ships. Includes the Dockyard Museum

 

Shirley Heights: Shirley Heights is a restored military lookout and gun battery with spectacular views over English Harbour and Falmouth Harbour.

 

Devil’s Bridge: Devil's Bridge is a natural arch carved by the sea from soft and hard limestone ledges.

 

Hawksbill Beaches: This beautiful bay gets its name because of a strange-looking rock protruding from the water just off the bay. There are four beaches on this bay.

 

St. John's Saturday Morning Market: Opens at 5.30 am on a Saturday morning. Here you will find local produce like breadfruit, mangoes, soursop, sugar apples, pineapples, dasheen, tamarind, and vegetables. The craft market attached sells locally produced arts and crafts.

 

Museum of Antigua & Barbuda: The museum is housed in the colonial Court House. It is the oldest building still in use and was constructed in 1747 on the site of the first city market.

 

Fort Barrington: Fort Barrington is the only fort to see military action in Antigua. It is walking distance from the Royalton Resort.

 

VC Bird Monument: Sir Vere Cornwall Bird Sr was the first Prime minister of Antigua.
